Cassie Tenebaum is a Te Whanganui-a-Tara based artist, designer & animator. Her practice centres around the representation of queer intimacy, depicting the complexity of lesbian experiences through snapshot compositions and the use of watercolour techniques. Reveling in the subtleties and contours of the human body, her paintings try to capture her subjects as they really are. Her art is a genuine celebration of queer identity and intimacy that lives in conversation with an uncomfortable history of fetishistic and patriarchal perspectives on the kinds of relationships that she depicts. She is currently completing a masters of fine arts at Massey University and enjoys making a variety of contributions to her local arts and music scene.
